A Brief History of the Kokomo Howard County Arts League

 

Fall 2009 - Representatives of local arts organizations begin to meet to answer "How can we work together?"

February 2010 - By-laws are approved for the "Kokomo-Howard County Arts League"

Initial Officers are: President: Eric Thornbury; Vice-President: Steve Hughes; Secretary: Celeste Seay; Treasurer: Jerry Santen

April 2010 - Kick Off Event is held at the Rhum Academy of Music to introduce the Arts League to the public and Media

December 2010 - First printed calendar of Arts Events is published, covering January-April 2011

May 2011 - Second printed calendar of Arts Events is published, covering May-August 2011

August 2011 - KHCAL receives 501(c)(3) non-profit status

January 2012 - Website, www.khcal.org is introduced.  The calendar of Arts Events is now online.

July 2012 - KHCAL rents booth at Howard County Fair for Arts Organizations to distribute information

August 2012 - KHCAL is the non-profit food vender for Weberfest in Foster Park

Summer 2013 - KHCAL receives $2500 from Howard County Commissioners to promote the arts in Kokomo and Howard County

July 2013 - KHCAL again rents booth at Howard County Fair for Arts Organizations to distribute information

August 2013 - KHCAL is the non-profit food vender for Rhumfest in Foster Park

Fall 2013 - KHCAL begins work to create an "Arts in Our Community" brochure/directory

 

 

KHCAL Supports All Arts - including Fine Arts, Music, Culinary Arts, Theatre and Dance
